NOMADLAND MOVIE REVIEW
Leigh: Can we talk about Francis McDormand’s performance? She’s amazing in everything that she does, but within the first minute of this film she had my heart breaking – and she hadn't even uttered a word or done anything yet. I timed it. Within the first minute, I had tears in my eyes. I think this is another Oscars nom for her.
Tim: This is Oscar-worthy through and through. She carries Nomadland. As you're listening to the real-life stories of Linda May and Swankie and Bob, she's listening along with you. And boy, does she convey so much character. She’s so expressive; you know exactly what she's feeling by just looking at her face. The camera captured her beautifully. If she doesn't walk away with the Oscar for this, I'll be very, very surprised.
Leigh: It takes a talented director to pull a movie like this off, doesn't it? You're working with people who aren't actors, and so you need to know when to guide them to get what you need and when to get out of the way to let them tell their story.
